Pastor Scott’s Sunday service on May 22, 2016 was a victory celebration to commemorate the completion of a 10+ year-long project to repair and preserve the teaching tapes of her late husband Dr. Gene Scott. His 30 years of teaching was recorded on tens of thousands of hours of analogue 2” tapes. When Pastor Scott first came to the ministry, she discovered that these priceless teaching tapes had been stored in horrific conditions of high heat and humidity. The tapes were damaged and many were nearly ruined. Pastor Scott then spearheaded a massive restoration project to transfer and digitally remaster the tapes, and that phase of the work has finally been completed. The band of volunteers who performed this work are collectively called the “Delta Force,” based on the book of the same name that Dr. Scott taught from in 1983. Dr. Scott made an analogy between our military’s most elite special forces, and the Christian’s commitment to sacrifice. Pastor Scott made an acronym of the word DELTA: “Doc’s Elite Legacy Teaching Archivists.” This was a celebration of the volunteers who “kept their hands to the plow.” Pastor Scott brought a binder containing over a hundred letters from the Delta Force members, and read from many letters that demonstrated the eclectic nature of the Delta Force as well as their common thread: a people answering the call of God. In addition to cleaning, transferring and remastering tapes, there were a multitude of other related preservation activities such as editing, transcribing and producing “The Dr. Gene Scott Pulpit” series of books.
