This timelapse (1984–2025) reveals its dramatic shrinkage , a powerful reminder of how mismanagement, dam construction, droughts, and climate change can destroy entire ecosystems. But this is not a new story. From the Aral Sea to Lake Urmia, the pattern repeats, the same story, only in different places.
