A Rail King rail car mover was on a scrap metal siding hooked to 4 loaded scrap metal gondolas. Rail King car mover is a type of road railer. It can run on tracks and on pavement and is used as a way of railroad switching without using a more expensive locomotive. They are manufactured in Houston, Texas. Anyway, the short train got loose and rolled down the track and hit the derail switch. Instead of rolling onto the CSX main line it went on the ground and prevented a possible disaster. Before I show the derailment I show up close what a derail switch is. This is called a "split rail". They are not as common as the derail units that are placed over the rail. I also showed a grain train that was running long hood forward. After we see how to tell if a railcar is loaded we see a heavy train come down the hill in Erlanger. I was expecting to see the Erlanger local go by but got to see this long intermodal train instead. Next we go to the CSX maintenance of way office and siding in Walton, Kentucky. Here we see a huge auto racks train that was over 11,100 feet long. Notice how it starts speeding up as it crests the ridge here. We also have the Ozzy auto racks car on the rear. The last train is at a place in Erlanger that I have only filmed once or twice. This is near the top of the hill. The intermodal train is dropping down the hill into Ludlow, Kentucky on its way to Gest street Yard in Cincinnati, Ohio. Don't forget the Live Action Pets and the slide show at the end of this video.
