Chita is a city in the periphery of Russia that is experiencing a major urban crisis, environmental problems and waste management issues. The city is literally drowning in garbage. At this point Chita looks like a huge landfill with occasional inhabited houses located right on it. Why the government does nothing about it, how people walk here, through waste water puddles and piles of rubbish and why it is impossible to speak about Chita without swearing? I talked to some locals to find out what they think about the critical state of Chita’s suburbs.
