And let’s be honest: there’s nothing surprising about a studio that’s gotten so comfortable at the top, it thinks you’ll sit around for over five hours like you’ve got nowhere else to be. If they seriously want to repair any goodwill, perhaps step one is showing some humility—like informing people of the actual start time for the big reveal! You know, so you don’t have to endure what feels like a marathon press conference for an announcement that could’ve been done in minutes. To rub salt in the wound, they’re also cramming in the Fox X-Men cast—yes, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, the whole gang—right into Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars, effectively merging that continuity with the Avengers. No time spent laying groundwork or giving the X-Men room to breathe in the MCU. It’s just nostalgia used as a cheap shortcut—cramming beloved actors and characters into the mix instead of building the next generation of X-Men from scratch. If you wanted a sign that Marvel is banking on your memories instead of fresh, well-developed storytelling, here it is. So if you’re a die-hard fan who’s still excited, more power to you—but for everyone else, that five-and-a-half-hour drag is a tough sell. Marvel, it’s not 2019 anymore. Audience patience might not be infinite. A little humility—and maybe a more respectful approach to everyone’s time—would go a long way in winning us back. But hey, at least we know who’s showing up to fight side by side with our favorite heroes.
