When the polling station closes, and we have the first results we'll see, but maybe this time we will wait a little bit longer, until we know the results." 12. Various of Faymann leaving STORYLINE Austrians were voting in parliamentary elections on Sunday that analysts say could bolster the standing of the country's two right-wing parties. But with possibly more than half a million citizens mailing in their ballots or dropping them off in election wards other than their own, the day may end without a clear winner. The centre-left Social Democrats chancellor candidate Werner Faymann cast his vote alongside his wife in Vienna. He told reporters outside the polling station that he would wait patiently until the "voters have spoken" adding that it would likely take "a bit longer" until results were known. The governing coalition between the conservative People's Party and the centre-left Social Democrats crumbled in July after months of bickering. Throughout the summer there has been an election campaign involving 10 parties on a national level. On the eve of Sunday's election, the two power-sharing blocs were running neck and neck for the top spot. But neither look likely to secure an absolute majority.
