You might have seen the Frank Bello signature ‪@OfficialSpector‬ hanging on my wall in recent months... Finally, it's time to give it a go with an ‪@AnthraxBandOfficial‬ cover! Very cool story about this bass - so it is signed by Frank himself, it is his stage-played bass from the Anthrax show in Cardiff back in July 2025 (supporting Slayer!!) I was attending that show, but honestly I wasn't expecting the bass to come into my possession a few weeks later! Another attendee and fan actually bought this bass, but then later on that month was offered to buy Frank's bass from the Black Sabbath 'Back To The Beginning' show a few days after Cardiff. Not wanting to miss out on owning an item from such an iconic show (the bass that won Frank a grammy from his performance with Yungblud) he found himself with two basses. He didn't have the need for both, so the bass from the Cardiff show has ended up living with me, I suppose on some open-ended loan, to do with as I please, as long as it gets used once in a while! Much appreciated! Here it is! I used to play this song in an old covers band back in 2010. Re-visiting it many years later, I discovered I hadn't really been playing it right, actually there's less movement happening than I thought, but it's cool to lock in on those droning grooves while the guitars carry the main riffs. I have been enjoying playing this bass at home, mostly during lessons. It feels really nice on the fretting hand, but the pickups aren't agreeing with my right hand technique (corner of the pickup is not a comfortable thumb rest!) but it does sound great and has been a pleasure to play in shorter bursts... And I'm very proud to have it hanging on my wall to remind myself of a seriously epic week of live music I experienced last summer. Frank is one of my favourite bass players, a really warm and authentic guy who I could listen to talk about music for hours, his passion is so infectious. Also, what an attitude and stage presence, while ripping speedy fills! This is the rockstar energy I love to see!
