89 Key Gavioli Organ For Sale with Dean Organ Builders

Due to another mechanical music project nearing completion at the end of the year one of our clients has decided to put this rare Gavioli organ on the market and therefore we are pleased to act on his behalf in offering it for sale. This is a very rare model Gavioli organ and is possibly the last remaining example built as a No.1 scale organ known to exist. The number one scale was the first scale with registers used by Gavioli & Cie following the production of its popular 87 scale book organ model. The intention of the number one scale was to enhance the 87 scale by the use of a register system to give the reproduction of a real orchestra in particular the imitation of a solo violin effect. This organ was built in 1902 by Gavioli et Cie Paris as a special commission for M.Opitz-Van Haverbeke for use in his salon carousel; later the organ had its front cut down so that it could fit in to a smaller ride, eventually coming to England in the mid 1960s. The first English owner decided on purchasing the organ to fit the organ behind another front which he had acquired from Hill Brothers Marenghi scenic organ, which is the front the organ still has on it today. The organ was later sold to the well known Belgian organ arranger and dealer Arthur Prinsen who did some work on the organ and reconfigured it to play the popular Marenghi V.B. scale. Very little actual alteration to the original organ was undertaken at this time with only the addition of pipework for the conversion to this scale. The organ can be purchased as it stands today, used and enjoyed as is in its present form, however there is also a great opportunity for an owner to consider returning the organ to its original number one scale and specification, which would be a great achievement in the field of mechanical organ preservation. This would be a fascinating historical restoration project, and we would be happy to discuss this and provide further technical and historical information should a prospective purchaser wish to discuss such a possible exciting project. The organ comes complete with approximately 189 music books and is fitted in to a drawbar trailer which has been dressed to look like a shepherds hut, as the organ has in recent times formed part of a display within a private garden. The current design and look might well make the organ suitable for use in a theme park setting. This complete outfit offers a number of possibilities for the prospective purchaser, enabling it to be used commercially, privately, or in a museum setting, whether it is to be out in public or used in a private collection. Please contact us in confidence to discuss further details or to purchase this Gavioli organ. Contact: - Richard Dean 01275 834474 or email: [email protected]
