Nearby, you can find plenty of great diners like Mendocino Farms, Joans on Third or the Aroma Coffee and Tea Co. Further west on Ventura Blvd. is an Art Deco bookstore called Bookstar and Pinz Bowling. At night, places like Laurel Tavern and Black Market Liquor Bar come alive. After water reached the San Fernando Valley, a syndicate led by Harry Chandler, a business manager for the L.A. Times bought most of the area. Among the developers, James Boon Lankershim and Isaac Van Nuys were also the inspiration for the names of some very familiar streets. Running through Studio City is the North Valleyheart Riverwalk which extends for just under two miles, a great place to walk your dog, or just decompress. There’s also Wilacre Park, a great local hiking spot. Close to half of Studio City residents over 25 had earned Bachelor's degrees by the year 2000. It’s no surprise with such notable schools in the area. Campbell Hall and Carpenter Community Charter School are rated above average. Harvard Westlake, is another beautiful campus located on Coldwater Canyon Blvd. From there, you can also easily go south to Coldwater Park in Beverly Hills. Some people might say that Studio City lacks diversity. Among the residents, this may be true, but nearby magnet schools foster voluntary integration. Universal Studios and Toluca Lake border Studio City on the east. The Hollywood Hills West border Studio City on the south, to the north is Valley Village and to the west Sherman Oaks. These are equally bustling areas. Many notable people grew up here (and I’m not including the Brady Bunch) even though their house is nearby, one of the most photographed in the US. Eddie Van Halen also had a music studio here. The Universal Studios Metro Station will take you downtown or to the North Hollywood station where you can get on the Orange line going east.
