We start off cool with temps in the upper 40’s and lower 50’s. Sunshine sticks around today with highs in the lower 80’s and low humidity. Lows tonight will be a bit more mild in the mid-to-upper 50’s. Saturday brings mostly dry skies, but you will notice more clouds and breezy conditions. Temps will top out near 80 degrees. A warm front will approach our area Sunday; however, there is still some uncertainty in the track of this system. It does look like the front will try to sneak onshore. This brings mainly rain north of the front (wherever it sets up) and a more active pattern south of the front. Especially near and south of the front, stronger storms are possible with a level 1 out of 5 risk in place for damaging winds and possibly a brief tornado. Otherwise, we are expecting rough surf this weekend with a high risk for rip currents and a small craft advisory in place through Sunday. Rain chances drop heading into next week with another cold front moving through midweek. In the tropics, we continue to track Melissa. The system is expected to steadily strengthen and slow down as it meanders around the Caribbean through this week. It is forecast to bring lots of rain and flash flooding to Haiti, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. Moving into the weekend into early next week, Melissa is expected to rapidly strengthen into possibly a major hurricane south of Jamaica. We will keep an eye on this long term, but it is not a current threat to the United States.
