Textploitation: How to Get the Most from Your Texts Speakers: David Byrne & Mark Heffernan Textploitation was born out of a shared frustration of seeing teachers having to source pages and pages of materials for their lessons. We could see coursebooks with beautiful texts that were rich with language and skills just waiting to be exploited being ignored once comprehension had been checked. We wanted to show that a single text could be used as the basis for a whole lesson. Over the years, however, Textploitation has grown into more than just strategies for using a single text for an entire lesson, it has become an approach which helps to create learners to get the most from the text they encounter every day in their lives. After all, our learners are surrounded by texts everywhere they go; with phones they have access to texts from around the world, it is our job to equip them with the tools they need to exploit and learn from these texts. Autonomy has to be the end goal. #textploitation #coursebooks #text #exploit #tefl #masterclass #cpd #teflcpd #elt
