Moideen is the Panchayat councilor of Mandapam near Rameswaram. It is said that he has collected money from Dalits through Sarojini claiming that he would provide housing plots on behalf of the government. Later the public came to know that they were cheated. Because of this Moideen got angry and has abused Sarojini. Due to this Sarojini underwent severe stress, poured kerosene on her body and set her self on fire. Her relatives complained that appropriate treatment was not given to Sarojini who has been admitted to the ICU of the Ramanathapuram government hospital.
