Today we are exploring a abandoned mansion Built in 1704, this beautiful manor house has been the residence of a number of notable figures over its 300 years, including the freemasons. It is now on the market for 3 million. Influential Scottish architect Robert Adam renovated the building in 1772, creating one of his signature octagonal rooms where his portrait now hangs. You will notice multiple ornate ceilings, these are the reason for its grade 1 listing. The large oak panelled room is decorated with paintings of previous residents and a large painting of Queen Ann above the brick fireplace. Following through to the semi circular tapestry room which has two glass chandeliers and a portrait of King George III. From residential, to hydropathic hotel, to army hospital, to private girls school... In the 1980’s the school moved in to the modern buildings next door, it was then bought and saved from destruction by local resident, John, who moved in with his family and spent a great amount of money refurbishing it, he began renting it out for functions and it finally gained its listed status. He is the current caretaker, although no longer the owner. The plans to turn it into a care home fell through leaving this magnificent building with no certain future. • Join our channel to get access to perks: / @samandjessexplore Instagram- / samandjessexplore Facebook- / samandjessexplore Merch- https://teespring.com/en-GB/stores/sa... • Intro music produced by Joseph Pike [email protected]
