Letter Dd Word Families | “ad” & “and” Phonics Lesson (Kindergarten & Grade 1)

In this lesson, we connect the letter Dd to early word family work by exploring the “ad” and “and” families. Students: Brainstorm Dd words together on chart paper Draw pictures of words that start with Dd on a Letter Dd info page Build and read words in the “ad” family (mad, sad, glad, etc.) Build and read words in the “and” family (sand, band, land…) We finish by creating a simple word-family display to revisit during independent reading and centres.
