In the spring of 1805 the Lewis & Clark Expedition passed through the entire state of Montana without seeing a single Native American. Ironically they were seen by the natives and talked about but avoided. While the Expedition feared the warriors of the plains, the Indians feared the diseases they carried. This short film is about filming the Assiniboine sighting of Lewis and Clark. EPS produced the film under the direction of the Valley County Historical Society (Mary Helland) and the Assiniboine tribe. The film was made possible by a National Park Service grant and was reenacted by Assiniboine tribal members speaking their native Assiniboine (Nakoda) language, subtitled in English. Michael "Bad Hand" Terry was instrumental in outfitting the council lodge reenactment and ridding his horse in action scenes. You may purchase the compete film through the website www.inthelandoftheassiniboine.com or on Amazon.
