Joseph Slowinski took his first trip to Myanmar in 1997. Ten more such expeditions followed, not only because the country was (and still is!) breath-taking, but because it helped Slowinski achieve his dream and fulfil his life’s work. Joseph was a renowned herpetologist, a scientist studying amphibians and reptiles. In 2001, at 38 years old, the man was already extraordinarily accomplished, having published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and one book. He was, first and foremost, a nature enthusiast with a preference for snakes. In fact, he specialized in the analysis of Elapidae, also known as the most venomous snakes out there. Coral snakes, cobras, kraits and mambas all are part of this specific snake family, and Joseph Slowinski loved them all, despite or maybe because of their tiny, deadly fangs. #snake #attack #truestory Sources: https://www.nytimes.com/2001/12/30/ma... https://www.science.org/content/artic... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_... https://www.doctorbugs.com/joseph-slo... https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-x... https://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor... / joe-slowinskis-love-for-snakes-led-to-his-... https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/c... https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myanmar...
