TEASER: Wheelchair Basketball | 5th PHILSPADA PARALYMPICS

This was my First time joining a sports competition in a wheelchair. I have been actively playing and competing in Basketball and Volleyball during my school days. One unforgettable event we competed in during high school was the MILO Olympics because here we experienced a lot as a team. The camaraderie and brotherhood were solid. Playing in a wheelchair was way challenging because you also need to use your hands in rolling the wheelchair then dribble the ball and shoot, but the excitement here was more intense and extraordinary. This video happened during the 5th PHILSPADA PARALYMPICS also known as Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled last March 2016 and held at Marikina Sports Center. Our Team's name is Solid North because we all came from the north. I was invited to play by their side by a Facebook friend and our Team Captain Kuya Juanito Mingarine. I was excited because this is new for me, so We traveled 420 kilometers just to experience playing wheelchair basketball. I was not able to help the team well but the most important thing is that We Won the Championship Game. And I realized it's not about winning the game, it is how we played together in the game. The Lord showed me that there's more to life. I was able to meet a new set of friends. One of them was Kuya Ohms Resulto. They were all very friendly and amazing. Most of them speak the same dialect. Of course, we are from the north. But I wasn't expecting it, I didn't know them personally until that day, so there was no room for adjustments. A lot of fun and laughter happened. It feels like we have known each other for a long time already. I enjoyed the whole journey with the new friends I meet during this game. We're all compatible playing together. I learned a lot from them.
