Our boy "Moe", a foundation Morgan, faithfully served on the Summit County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol for 15 years. He was fatally wounded in the line of duty on April 29, 2009. Having injured his suspensory ligament and 3 other tendons beyond repair, under the authority and supervision of a renowned area veterinary equine leg specialist, Moe was laid to rest. Summit County Sheriff Drew Alexander issued a press release honoring him and ordered mourning bands to be worn by all county deputies, and Moe was given a memorial plaque and place of honor amongst other heroes at the Robert D. Campbell Training Center, where all deputies attend the Sheriff's Academy. Moe was so much more than a horse. He was was a partner in the line of duty, a beloved family pet, a companion to whom many secrets were told, a teacher, and a blessing to be counted twice who was loved very much.
