The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office opened their new state-of-the-art District 4 Substation/Jail located at 19038 Unity Park Drive in Magnolia, Texas Monday morning. The substation will give deputies additional room to work on reports and meet with citizens. Multiple offices are available for detectives with space for new detectives as they are added. The 16,760 square foot building will also have jail cells to hold up to 15-prisoners. This allows deputies and local police officers to quickly drop prisoners and return to the streets. Prior to this, they had to drive to Conroe many times stuck in traffic and in many cases took most of their shift taking them away from patrol duties. The West Patrol area of the county has experienced exponential growth over the years, and part of the foresight of the Sheriff’s Office campus master plan was to have this new building and satellite jail to more efficiently serve the community and the law enforcement agencies in the area. In addition, there are many energy-saving features such as solar tubes which bring outside light into the building, and motion sensor lighting in the offices which turns the lights on when motion is sensed. The Sheriff's Office moved into the new facility from the offices in the annex that was adjacent to it. The move from that building has now given Constable Chris Jones room to expand his offices.
