From demolition to excavation, plumbing, and concrete preparation, every step was a challenge that tested my skills and determination. Using an excavator with a jackhammer attachment and a skid steer, I tore out the old, cracked concrete floor and cleared out years of wear and tear. The most nerve-wracking part? Working carefully near the cinderblock walls to flush-cut the concrete slab without causing structural damage. Once the demolition was done, I leveled the gravel base and installed proper drainage systems, including a center drain and a heavy-duty linear drain at the garage entrance. I even tackled all the plumbing work myself to ensure everything was set up for the long haul. These steps were crucial in preparing for the final stage: pouring a new concrete slab that would give the garage a completely fresh start. But this project wasn't just about saving money; it was about proving that with enough effort and the right tools, a determined DIYer can achieve professional results.
