The bridges wing of the public works department (PWD) construction of kulasekharam bridge on the last stage. The bridge, to be constructed across the Karamana River, will connect Peyadu and Pallimukku with Kulasekharam Junction.As the will connect Vattiyoorkavu and Kattakada constituencies, it was one of the major demands of MLAs in the constituencies for the past several years. In addition to two constituencies, the bridge will also connect and Kattakkada taluks and local bodies such as vilappil panchayat and city Corporation. As per the design, bridge will have four spans. The approach roads are proposed to be constructed for a total length of 510m. The protective works are proposed near approach road on both sides of the bridge to facilitate the safety and stability. The design wing of PWD has included concrete retaining wall considering safety during high floods. The total cost is estimated at Rs 10 crore.Administrative sanction for construction of the bridge was given in March 2013. The district-level purchase committee meeting for the project was held in December 2015 for direct purchase of land. The state-level purchase committee approved the land value in February 2016. Around Rs 2.43 crore was sanctioned for land acquisition.
