Marc Miner - himself an enthusiastic facial hair wearer - on the other hand, has been on the best path to hell all his life. So, when the five bearded men get together to sing about redemption, their joint single “Saved My Soul” is a musical firework that has never been seen before in the Central European country and folk music scene. The single will be released on January 31, 2025 on the indie label Between Music. The Long Beard Brothers, a charismatic Styrian folk/country/acoustic rock group, and Vienna-based country rocker and singer-songwriter Marc Miner make it clear with their first collaboration on the single “Saved My Soul” that they have a perfect command of both American and European music. Elements of country, blues, Irish folk, gipsy music, Spanish guitars and subtle Slavic melodies are blended together as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “We didn't have to think much about it; it just happens when you take off your blinkers and understand music as a world language,” comments Beard Dave, double bass player and high tenor of the Long Beard Brothers. The lyrics of the song are also dedicated to an old villain of Western folklore: the devil and the liberation of one's own soul from his torment and sinful deeds. Marc Miner, who also penned the song, explains: “The deep fall and the constant picking yourself up and moving on, the ongoing attempt to become a better person - this is a topic that has fascinated me for a very long time. That's why so many of my songs are about it. Already when I was writing the song, I knew I had to have the Brothers on it because their first singles also had the devil as a theme and they have folk music in their blood.” The song was recorded in the Long Beard Brothers' studio in Styria in just one day. “The atmosphere was exuberant, very friendly and inspiring right from the start,” says Beard Chris, drummer of the Long Beard Brothers and one of the three lead singers on ‘Saved My Soul’, summarizing the work. “We only met Marc once before at one of our concerts when he visited us and suggested the idea of a joint single. It didn't take him long to get us excited about it”, adds Beard Mat, Long Beard Brothers' banjo player and also more than talented on all other string instruments. The first collaboration between the two acts is very promising and refreshes the traditional country and folk sound. Apparently, the devil can be defeated with these means and the souls of the damned can be saved.
