Chick Corea Music Video Tribute (RTF & more)

I chopped together this dedication to Chick Corea yesterday as quickly as I could with what little time I have after receiving the news of his passing. I felt it was the least I could do. I used early RTF and Isham for it. There was only enough time to create this video on my phone, but I still try to do the best quality work that I can regardless of the medium. There’s so much various YouTube footage on this video that I even have some apocalyptic stuff in there—but I don’t think I care. I like the pace, and besides, this music has always filled me with that many different thoughts and feelings all at once when I hear it. Corea didn’t quite influence me as much as other keyboardists/pianists in the wake of Miles Davis’s electric period did (Jan hammer, Joe Zawinul, David Sancious, etc.), but his influence was still there and prevalent for me and almost any electric jazz musician worth their weight in salt. Some may not consider the two pieces in this video quintessential to Corea’s work, but his performance on them was significant and quintessential to me personally, leaving a lasting impression, so I used them. Rest In Peace, Chick.
