It is located in the west-central part of Guangdong Province and the west wing of the Pearl River Delta. It is an important node at the intersection of the Pearl River and the Xijiang River. Gaoming District borders Heshan City in the southeast and south, Xinxing County in the southwest, Gaoyao District in Zhaoqing City in the northwest, and faces Sanshui District and Nanhai District across the Xijiang River in the northeast. The total area is 960 square kilometers. The District People's Government is stationed in the Netherlands No. 6, Wenhui Road, Chengjie Street. Gaoming District is located in the southern Guangdong region, with criss-crossing water networks and mountains and rivers. It inherits the living habits and culture of Guangfu people. In history, Gaoming District has the reputation of being a "literary Jiaduan County" with "a large number of outstanding people", a land of plenty, and a city of mountains, forests, and water. Gaoming District once had 10 towns: the county seat (formerly Hecheng), Xi'an, Sanzhou, Fuwan, Mingcheng, Renhe (also known as Dasha), Genglou, Yangmei, Heshui and Xinxu. From the Qin Dynasty to the Western Jin Dynasty, it was Gaoyao County, and during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was Pingxing County. It was merged into Gaoyao County in the Sui Dynasty. The remains of Pingxing County have been excavated. In April of the 14th year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (May 28, 1478), Gaoming County was established. It was named after the old Gaoming Village where the county was governed. In 1958, Gaoming and Heshan counties were merged into Gaohe County, and in 1981 they were restored to Gaoming and Heshan counties. In 1994, the county was removed and established as a city (county level). In early 2003, the city was removed and established as a district, and merged into Foshan City. The relics of Pingxing County in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Linggui Pagoda and Wenchang Pagoda are Ming Dynasty buildings with majestic architecture and exquisite art; under the Linggui Pagoda is the first well-preserved Tang Dynasty dragon kiln ruins in Guangdong Province.
