"This is Sparta!" (Wait, wrong movie...) "This is Varta!" Good thing I have cans of contact cleaner on hand... and vinegar. NiCad batteries, along with every other type of battery once they get old, are not your friend. Catch them soon enough after they start leaking, and all you'll need to do it neutralize electrolyte. Let them sit too long, like in the case of my Am386SX-40 motherboard, and you'll be repairing lots of corrosion and broken traces. My Lion Computer Local ISA 486 motherboard is somewhere between those two extremes. While the PCB itself looks unharmed, as best as I can see around the battery, there is corrosion on the power connector and the closest ISA slot. Speaking of that Pine Technologies PT-319 motherboard with the Am386SX-40 processor, I have new information as to a possible cause of the no-POST issue. Will I be able to fix the issue, or is the board too far gone for me to try to save?
