The 2025 29er World Championship in Porto ended in high suspense — but no further racing. The results from yesterday held firm after light winds kept the fleet ashore until the final possible start time at 4:00 p.m. Hopes remained high right up until the cut-off, but with no racing possible, yesterday’s leaders, the Danish–Norwegian team of Nicklas Holt and Philip Forslund (NOR 16), were officially crowned World Champions. In celebration, the Norwegian crew immediately peeled off the “6” from their sail number to proudly display a “1” — the number they will now sail under if they continue in the 29er class. All top 25 teams from the World Championship will likewise adopt new sail numbers to reflect their final ranking.
