According to Ayariga, the secretariat already exists and has been coordinating aspects of the 24-hour economy policy. However, he argued that a mere secretariat cannot effectively supervise or coordinate ministers and sector ministries, making it necessary to invest it with the legal powers of an authority. He also clarified that the 24-hour economy policy document was inaugurated on 2nd July 2025, and while policy documents are not constitutionally required to be laid before Parliament, the government chose to do so at the request of the Minority to promote transparency.
