Over the course of living on Catalina Island for three months last summer we were only given one full day off away from the camp. This is a blog type video of how I spent my day 27 hour day off. Three of my closest friends and I decided to join me on an epic kayak camping adventure down the rural coastline of Santa Catalina Island. Our adventure was filled with cliff jumps, caves, and a lot of kayaking =) This 27 hour day off is extremely anticipated by the staff because it is the only chance to truly escape from the everyday camp routine surrounded by kids! Three of my closest friends and I decided to choose a different route. We decided to kayak 14 miles east along the coast of Catalina and use our 27 hours to really escape and explore a more rural side of Catalina Island. We wanted to have more of a grizzly man survival like trip so we didn't bring much with us. We packed up 4 kayaks with only our diving gear, some coal, and a few potatoes. It was breath taking to say the least! All along the rugged coastline we passed beautiful caverns, cliffs, and caves that looked as if they were straight out of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland! It was an unbelievable trip. This is only part one of our trip, in this video we embark on our adventure, make a quick pit stop in two harbors, stop by this cool little cove that we called 'Grease', and check out a few sea caves on our ocean kayaks. We called the cove with white rocks 'Grease' because it looked the crystal clear water and white rock cliffs looked very much like Greece. Since we were in America though, we decided to call it 'Grease' =) The majority of camp counselors decided to go to Avalon and party. Going to Avalon costs $75 for a water taxi, $100 for hotel, and at least $60 for food and drinks at the local bars. To me, that would have been a moronic way to spend my hard earned money considering we only made $250 for an entire week of hard work. anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this viral fish video!
