Do you have a crooked board that needs straightening but don’t have a fancy jointer? Well look no further! In this video you’ll learn how to make an edge jointing jig for your table saw. This jig can be made in just a few minutes, and you may already have what you need laying around. I used a few accessories from Rockler that I happened to have laying around the shop to maximize the efficiency and usefulness of my jig, but they definitely aren’t necessary. See below for alternatives to these accessories. You’ll also learn the differences between wood joining and jointing (joinery vs jointery) as well as how to use an edge jointing sled so you can straighten out the edges of a board and end up with perfectly straight and parallel edges that are ready to be glued up (joined) into whatever it is you’re building. And remember you can DIY it, you can do it yourself! If you’re looking for an alternative to buying the aluminum T-track consider purchasing a T-Track router bit for your router, then you can cut as many T Tracks as you want without the cost of the track. Your local hardware store should sell toilet bolts that will work in T Track or they may even have actual T-Track bolts for you to use on this and various other jigs you may decide to build. See this link for Rockler’s T-Track router bit If you’re looking for an alternative to the Rockler T Track hold down clamps check out these toggle style hold down clamps that don’t require a T Track at all, you can fasten them directly to the jig. And best of all they’re inexpensive.
