'Charlotte's Web' Gives New Hope to Ohio%2

COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur/Chelsea Spears) -- There's new hope for Ohio's marijuana refugees. These are the Ohio families that moved to Colorado to get marijuana oil for their sick kids. In January, ABC 6/FOX 28 visited Colorado and these refugees. They moved west to get "Charlotte's Web." This is the marijuana oil which they hope will control their children's seizures. But now, help or hemp may be on the way for families who can't move to Colorado or, maybe, want to return home. The brothers that make Charlotte's Web are now calling their crop "industrial hemp" and not marijuana. Because it's hemp with only a small trace of pot's hallucinogenic powers, the brothers plan to export it across state lines and around the country. The federal government, though, may have something to say about that. In a recent New York times article, a DEA spokesperson says exporting hemp gets into a gray legal area, but Jordan Stanley, one of the brothers behind Charlotte's Web, says he's willing to go to jail. However, a new bill has been introduced in Congress, one which makes sure Charlotte's Web is not defined as marijuana under federal law.
