Unspoken Stories | Bringing your stories to life... _______________________________________________ This project will see Fetherstone gather stories from strangers and friends alike all over the UK, Europe and Australia, turn them into songs, produce and release them, then travel back to the city where the story came from to perform. "TICKET TO YOU" The first single of the 'Unspoken Stories' series, this story came from a 9 year old in London about her experience visiting Jimi Hendrix's house (now turned into a museum). The song was co-written by Henry Mitton, Alex Gillespie and Briana Cowlishaw. This performance was live at the Servant's Jazz Quarters in Dalston, January 2018. Big thanks to Harriet Langley and Leanne Sedin for being our clapping rhythm section, to Harry Tarlton for mixing the track and to Iona Taberham for this beautiful video. THE CREATIVE PROCESS... We sat down with a story a 9 year submitted through our website about her experience visiting the Jimi Hendrix museum and observing the house where Jimi used to live and practise his guitar. She sent a few lines of lyrics/poetry to us in her email (with the help of her dad) which described the things she saw around the room, painting a really clear picture through her words. Henry Mitton, Alex Gillespie and I sat down and put our heads together, trying to work out what this story meant to us and how we could turn it into music. We starting discussing how strange it is that we go to visit famous dead people's homes, walking through their hallways to see where they hung their clothes and cooked their porridge... It's bizarre isn't it, but also interesting for people who loved Jimi Hendrix's music and wanted to get inside his world. Our final thoughts which went into the second verse were "When I die, I assume my house won't become a museum... does that mean I am any less important or valued on this planet?" Something to think about (but no we all rock in our own way)!
