The 2km Gomti Riverfront from Gomti Barrage to the weir, near La Martiniere College is ready and open to public. Besides, the 2 km stretch will also have provision for public amenities like toilets and drinking water kiosks. Two parking facilities each with about 300 cars and 250 two-wheeler capacity are being developed on both banks of the river. While left side bank is ready remaining works like construction of an amphitheater and a lake with a musical fountain in between will be installed on the right side bank by October. Up chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said, "The amphitheater will be able to accommodate more than 20000 spectators at a time. The musical fountain will be huge enough to be seen by people on both sides of the river." Out of targeted 15.1 kms of diaphragm wall construction, irrigation department has completed about 12 kms. DM has asked the department to install enough signages, CCTV cameras, display of emergency contact numbers and ensure proper waste disposal on the riverfront on priority before opening it for public use.
