A full breakdown of Vericres demonstrating it is indeed, a top-tier melee. I would say it sits in the top 10% best melees currently. But this is largely in part due to the Votive Onslaught stance, which arrived with Corpus Railjack nearly 2 years ago. This weapon actually has a different problem. Obviously we've shown it is amazing in its own right. However, every existing warfan covers its own niche. Quassus is the best heavy attack scaling warfan, Arum Spinosa is the best raw damage, armor strip + priming warfan, and Gunsen is the best normal melee warfan. Vericres is in fact a very, very slightly worse Gunsen, that has the luxury of gaining slightly more range if so desired. Now sidegrades aren't really an issue, but this is also an exclusive limited-time reward. While you might say exclusives shouldn't be strictly better, also consider that Gunsen is an early-game that only requires MR8, can be obtained from the Tenno Lab in a dojo at any time and thus has no RNG in acquisition; it isn't even a bounty drop weapon. Because in all possible niches Vericres is surpassed, I cannot recommend actually crafting this weapon and building it up if you have not yet done so. If you already have, congratulations, you have an absolute monstrosity of a melee. But Gunsen also does the literal exact same, and feels the exact same, but does better. Warfans may not be as popular, because the stance we've had for the first 6 years was Slicing Feathers, an abysmal stance with bad multipliers, bad motion values and animation locks. Votive Onslaught is actually most similar to the tonfa's revered Sovereign Outcast, complete with snappy horizontals, brutal single verticals, freedom of movement and very high multipliers. This makes warfans the baby tonfas, albeit slightly worse. However, Gunsen has a disposition of 1.35. Vericres is 0.5. If you want another Kronen Prime, just grab a riven for Gunsen and look no further.
