It's a song about getting older, and soaring past the pain into the new future God has prepared for you, and it's about taking back your power after what felt like an endless barrage of hardship. I wrote it (and this entire album) in a homeless shelter, going through a tough spell (PROBABLY quite literally) in my life... and I was mad (and when I'm mad I flip it into inspiration rap now lol), kind of charged up that day because I witnessed a situation where somebody (no names, ever) was kind of just knocking the homeless people's hearts around a lil', being overly loud and irrational to them like they have somewhere else to go... And it inspired the first line, "Tell me why some the people in these places power trippin'"? It very quickly spiraled into a soliloquy about my personal love life and just wanting to MOVE ON from being in so much PAIN from this emotional sensitivity... I was just so done and it turned into a legendary track. note to selves, I guess. Just be careful what you write in that head space, talk about your life yeah but really stay away from the demons. This anger (only towards injustice) fueled me to try to inspire myself and others, instead of letting that anger throw me around this place. I'm really glad because this beat I produced is 2 years old, and it's really nostalgic to me now. SO HEY ENJOY!!! 🎉 Here's GIRL'S HUS BAND.
