SEDDON PENNINE IV FLY 755J Perkins V8 Diesel Engine Hop Aboard this rare coach in preservation

Preserved former Essex Coachways, London, E15. FLY 755J - Seddon Pennine IV - Plaxton Panorama Elite II A fine guest entrant at the Delaines Bus Museum Open Day & Bus Running Day, on 26th April 2025, was this rare Plaxton Bodied Seddon. Apparently the registration is apt according to some enthusiasts. It is owned by preservationist Roger Burdett. It was new to Essex Coachways, on 03/1971, it has been restored in the livery of Red House Motor Services, Coventry, having latterly been in the livery of Leicester based G. H. Watts, its last operator prior to entering preservation. Being a fan of the unusual and odd-balls of the PSV world, things like this Seddon Pennine IV really appeal. Similar in layout to the ubiquitous Ford 'R' series with the engine in the front overhang, that's where the similarities really stopped. The Seddon product was made of more stern stuff with full air brakes and was in this case powered by the 170 bhp Perkins 510 V8. The irony was that Seddon couldn't sell you a 40ft (12m) version with that power unit in the Uk as the V8 tipped the scales too heavily in respect of front axle loading. Instead they had to offer the smaller turbo charged Perkins T6.354 which was indeed similar in size to the Ford unit The coach carries a representation of the livery carried by famed Coventry independent 'Red House Motor Services' FLY 755J is a very 'modern' vehicle for Rodger Burdett, and in his own words at the end of the video he says to a fellow enthusiast its a Seddon but its not that fine ! ... made me chuckle. Anyway left this video a bit longer than normal and a bit rough around the edges with editing and I may have just checked and tweaked the audio for better clarity. All sights and sounds recorded on the day from this bus. Edited to be respectful to driver and passengers on board.
