These are Jesus Ojeda’s words, one of the men and women who have spent their entire lives farming on the lands that they have been given and taken away by the “Parent River”. Every year, the harvest season is the most important and the most difficult time, for such a job like that of the “Veguero” (farmer), torn between the ancient submissiveness to nature which has been inherited from the Indians and the western thirst for the modern control. “Vegueros” shows the conditions in which agriculture is developed in the very geographical center of Venezuela, on the banks of its main tributary, based on a daily effort that can only make proud those who really care about the primary production of a country.
