Today we climb to the top of Old Baldy, the most popular hike in Garner State Park. If you are in the Texas Hill Country this is definitely a place you do not want to miss. The trail is popular with everyone including families...but don't let that fool you... this trail can be dangerous. while the trail is only about a mile long it climbs almost 500 feet in that distance. Some places are very steep and get very close to sheer cliffs that drop hundreds of feet so be careful if you have children with you. The view down to the Frio River is stunning and a cool swim is the best way to end this hike. Where is Garner State Park? GSP is close to the towns of Concan, Utopia, Leakey, and Vanderpoool.
