I can’t believe I found this antique Singer 29-4 "Patcher" sewing machine from 1913 on Facebook Marketplace. This machine was originally made for cobblers, designed to repair shoes, boots, leather goods, handbags, and thick canvas—but honestly, it's capable of so much more. With its 360-degree rotating presser foot with feed dogs from above, it's a true workhorse of a machine—once I got it running again! When I picked it up, it needed some love. I cleaned it up, replaced the belt, tracked down some missing screws, purchased Singer 29-4 bobbins and needles, applied fresh Singer decals and an original emblem, and after a little practice… I used it to repair my partner’s leather boots! Now that it’s working, I can’t wait to experiment with more projects— maybe leather accessories, modifying old or thrifted boots, or sewing some heavy-duty canvas projects... Hm... Would you ever use a machine like this? What would you make with it? Or do you just want to see me attempt something ridiculous on it? Let me know in the comments! Disclaimer: I’m not a professional restorer or sewing repair person—just someone who loves bringing old machines back to life and learning as I go. I welcome corrections, but please be kind. 🖤 / dr__raz / dr__raz http://dr-raz.org/
