Welcome to the UPDATED second episode of “Out From the Shadows: Let’s Talk Migraine” where we're going to be talking about comorbid conditions. The term comorbidity is used when two illnesses occur at a greater than coincidental rate than what is seen in the general population. It suggests that at some level the two are interrelated, though not necessarily causal. In many cases it is likely that there is actually a GENETIC reason underlying comorbidities. Understanding the association of migraine with other health conditions is an important part of providing optimal care, and with each condition identified migraine treatment becomes more complex. In some cases when you successfully treat one then the other also improves, but in other situations the treatment of one can potentially worsen the other. In this video we go over a wide variety of conditions which are considered comorbid with migraine disease.
