In this video, I will show you how to make a decorative long knife lanyard. The idea of this lanyard is that you can either attach it to your belt, or to your wrist. When creating this decorative knife lanyard, you need to consider how long you want the lanyard to be. So if you have the lanyard attached to your belt, you want it to be long enough so that you can still reach to cut something at arms length. For the creation of this lanyard, I used 2.5 mm diameter hard lay cotton cord: For the Star Knot I used 3 x 18 inches (46 cm) Calculating Length of Cordage for the lanyard: I created a 1 inch (2.54 cm) length of 4 strand plait. I then undid this and found that the actual amount of cordage that I had used was 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) of cordage. So for this lanyard project you can calculate roughly how much cordage you will need for your length of lanyard. So you will need to multiply the overall length of your lanyard by 1.5 inches (3.81 cm). Then multiply this by 2, then these two leads will be middled to give you your 4 leads for the 4 strand weave. You will also need 2 strands that are 16 inches (41 cm) long, these are just for the initial 4 strand braid loop. Don't forget to also add some extra for the loop in your lanyard, the Diamond Knot and the Doubled Diamond Knot! 00:00 Intro to Knife Lanyard 01:38 Star Knot Tutorial 31:01 Creating the Lanyard Loop 37:46 Tying the Diamond Knot 49:36 Strand Braid 53:29 Adding the Star Knot 55:05 Strand Braid 56:57 Adding the Shackle 1:00:25 Diamond Knot Doubled Tutorial #LetsGetKnotting
