In July 2022, Dr. Bernard Kanoi reached out after I was recommended by my Master’s coordinator, Prof. Naomi Maina. I went for a meeting at MKU, hopeful but unsure. Later that month, while in Mombasa, I got the call — I had the offer. I joined a malaria in pregnancy vaccine project, stepped into intense data analysis, R programming, machine learning, lab setup, Japan training, manuscript writing… and yes, disappointments too. But growth? Immense. From immunoscreening data to setting up malaria cultures from scratch — this journey has stretched me in every way possible. Huge thank you to: Prof. Naomi Maina, Dr. Bernard Kanoi, Prof. Jesse, Dr. Purity Gacheri, Prof. Clement Shiluli, Sebastian Musundi, Mark Maksu, and the entire CME squad. 🙏🏾 🎥 Watch more of the journey here: 🔬 Pioneering the Malaria Lab #culture • 2025 Vision Board Highlights | Raw, Uncut ... 🦠 Malaria Culture Process, Center for Malaria Elimination, MKU • #culture #malaria #plasmodium Malaria Cult... 📚 Scientific background of the study • I'm excited: 1st Runners Up Oral Presenter...
