The young man slowly opened his eyes and became aware of a faint, wordless emotion trembling deep within his chest. It was a presence with no direction and no name, as if it would slip through his fingers the moment he tried to grasp it. It was similar to joy and loneliness, yet it was neither, simply floating in the dim light. As the light from outside began to seep into the room, the feeling slightly shifted its shape with the light. Drawing close, then drifting away, growing dense, then fading thin. The young man made no effort to stop the ambiguous shaking, he simply watched it quietly. This sense of something about to begin appeared only at dawn. No matter how lost he became in the passing days, this moment alone arrived just the same, and the same subtle trembling stirred within him. He felt as though it wasn’t his own will, something was calling him back. Even when he couldn’t see where he was headed, each day always began here.
