Scavenge oxygen with metal powders when sintering?

When sintering metal in partially sealed containers carbon acts to protect our part from oxidation (and remove existing oxidation). I want to know if we can do the same thing with metal powders. I tried a modest amount of magnesium, compared to positive control of carbon and negative of nothing, to see if we can spot a difference. Next should be a very healthy amount, and in combination with carbon. Ideally this would enable the sintering of even oxidation-prone metals like titanium.
