As many lakes face challenges with increased biomass from the breeding of sexually mature fish, Fensmere is taking proactive steps to maintain a healthy ecosystem. By setting up these spawning ropes in areas where Carp traditionally spawn, we achieve several key benefits: ✅ Capturing Eggs from Incredible Fish – These spawning ropes allow us to collect millions of eggs from the incredible Fensmere stock, including the prized Leneys and huge French fish. ✅ Selective Breeding – Fertilized eggs are transported to a fish farm where they hatch. This gives us a non-invasive method of crossing genetics and selecting the very best fish to reintroduce into the lake once they grow large enough. ✅ Reducing Biomass – By removing eggs before they have a chance to hatch, we help limit the growth of smaller Carp, ultimately keeping the biomass under control and preventing potential ecological issues.
