Knuckles Chaotix Special Stages Playthrough

This is a playthrough of the 3D hexagonal special stages from the 32x game "Chaotix" also known as "Knuckles Chaotix" in Europe & NA. There are six special stages in total (not seven like you get in Sonic 2, 3 & CD). The goal is to collect the required amount of blue spheres. You have to collect the required amount of blue spheres twice - each time whilst navigating a different course - within the time-limit in order to be awarded a "Chaos Ring". If you don't collect the specfied number of blue sphere's then you will have to play through the same course again to try and find more blue spheres. Your time-limit in the special stages depends on how many rings you collected in the act prior to entering. The rings you collected in the previous act are carried over to the special stage. You need a minimum of 50 to enter the special stage and you can start the special stage with up to a maximum of 200 (even if you finish the act with more than 200 rings you only can start the special stage with a maximum of 200). As you play through the special stage your ring-total automatically counts down, which you can replenish by collecting rings in the special stage. If the ring total reachs zero you will exit the special stage without the chaos ring. If you fall down a bottomless pit "course out" you will also exit the special stage without the chaos ring. You need to avoid the "spike spheres" and "saws" which cause you to lose rings when hit. The "star-bumper" spheres will reverse your direction; make you move backwards if you hit them and make you move forwards if you hit them whilst moving backwards. The "X bumper" spheres will disappear upon contact and will bounce you back briefly and then you will continue moving forward. In the sixth special stage the yellow spheres propel you forwards by quite a distance and the green spheres propel you upwards. You need to collect all six chaos rings to get the good-ending. There is no super-form awarded for collecting all chaos rings. I really like these special stages. Whilst they do take quite a while to complete-even longer if you don't collect the required total of blue spheres and have to replay the same section again, I think the 3D hexagonal design looks really cool, the maze-like design is unique and figuring out the best techinique to get through is a good challenge.
