ACC Nabs 5 RTSA Officials for Corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission- ACC- has arrested five Road Transport and Safety Agency RTSA officers for corrupt practices. ACC Director General DAPHNE CHABU says the officers were arrested following investigations on allegations of soliciting and accepting bribes from motorists. Other allegations are that the Officers overlooked traffic offences, issued test certificates without physical inspections, issued licenses and provided other favours. Speaking during a press briefing, Ms CHABU said officials who engage in vices such as Traffic Corruption have no regard to the consequences of their behavior. Meanwhile, RTSA Chief Executive Officer AMON MWEEMBA said the agency is also conducting internal investigations and the suspects will be dismissed if they are found wanting.
