Saratoga and Bass with 'Beyond The Cast' - Kayak Fishing at Lake Kurwongbah

If you watch Australian fishing content on YouTube — especially videos based in South East Queensland — then by now you’ve probably heard of the ‪@BeyondtheCast-q9y‬ channel and checked out some of Sam’s awesome fishing adventures. We’d been in touch after my recent monster toga capture at Lake Kurwongbah (   • A 60cm Saratoga from Lake Kurwongbah!  ) just after Christmas and decided to link up for a session. It turned out to be a grey, incredibly windy, and seriously tough day on the water and because of the wild conditions, I didn’t manage to get much footage - but despite the lake not fishing well, Sam still managed find a saratoga and I found a bass or two who were willing to bite. This session was filmed on 24 January 2026 - grey, overcast and rainy conditions with incredibly strong winds and a barometric pressure of 1011 mb.
