Fujifilm X-E4 4K Cinematic Finally I got my hands on the brand new X-E4. It’s an interchangeable lens version of the X100V. First of all, it looks beautiful. The design looks identical to the X100V. Which is one of my favorite camera at all time. So When you carry the X-E4, it makes you wanna use it all the time. Second, it shares the same sensor and processor as the X-T4. So the video quality will looks spectacular. Third, the price. So you get the amazing look from the X100V and the good video quality like the X-T4. And it’s just half the price. I reckon the X-E4 is a great starting camera. So I only talked about the good things. Then what about the bad things? Yes the camera does have a few bad things which I think if you guys mainly use it for video. So if you wanna get this camera mainly for video. Then you need to pay attention of it. First, the camera is a bit too small. So when you attach a big lens such as the 16-80mm f/4.0. Then you can’t mount the Quick Release Plate. You will need the L-bracket or a handgrip to make the camera a bit taller. Speaking of Quick Release Plate, once you have put on the plate. You can’t access to the battery door anymore. It’s completely blocked. But there is a work around, when you don’t use the camera. Just charge the camera by the USB-C plug. That way you don’t need to remove the plate all the time. Because the X-E4 uses the small W126S battery. So you will need a couple for shooting videos. In conclusion, the X-E4 is an amazing camera. The 4K image looks spectacular. So at the end, it’s more about the ergonomics. Would you like to have a smaller body with almost the same image quality like the X-E4 ? Or Would you prefer the IBIS, Flipout screen, internal 10Bit 4K 60p and a bigger battery like the X-T4? Note: A lot of people have asked me not to use the expensive lenses on the video test. So this time I went with two affordable lenses. The XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR pancake lens and the XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens. The 16-80mm is a great all round lens, but I wish it was f/2.8. Because f/4 on an APS-C lens is around f/6. So it wasn’t easy to get a strong bokeh in the background. I didn’t try the 10Bit this time. As after mounting the Ninja V on the X-E4. I wouldn’t be able to shoot anything on the gimbal anymore. Cos that micro HDMI is very easy to disconnect. The whole camera isn’t really design to run an external recorder.
