(5 Sep 2000) Natural Sound XFA Forensic experts have unearthed the remains of six people believed to be Bosnian Muslim villagers missing since 1992. Investigators working with the Muslim Commission for Missing Persons dug up the bodies at a rubbish dump in Ivan Polje, about 30 kilometres (19 miles) east of Sarajevo. As many as 44 people from the nearby village of Novoseoci are believed to have been buried in the mass grave. Experts started clearing the trash dump and removing the first layers of dirt on Monday evening and found the remains early on Tuesday. An estimated 200-thousand people died during the three and a half-year long Bosnian war. Over 20-thousand remain missing. SOUNDBITE: (English) "We got the information two years ago. We were doing investigations in this area. Here we expect 44 bodies. People from the village of Novoseoci. These people were killed in the school and the bodies were brought here. We did not have the proper location. And lately the commission got information from a witness who did not want to be identified, and he said it is exactly in this garbage dump.
