This is a 45 minute core strength vinyasa flow class. The first of 5 classes designed to build core strength and awareness. All our movement tends to either originate from our core or pass through our core. When parts or all of our core is weak, it impacts how well the rest of our body functions - everything from our posture, gait, breathing, balance and digestion - and this can really sap our power. The benefits of developing a strong core is that it lessens the wear and tear on your spine and helps to unify the movement in your upper and lower body. You’ll stand taller, breathe better and feel stronger. In this class, we establish a breathing pattern for practice to support your core (ribcage diaphragmatic breathing) and then warm up with a range of sequences to make contact with your core - abdominals, low back, hips and pelvic girdle. Sun salutes and a standing series of postures follow where we explore engaging the core to create more neutral hip placement. It's a flowing class with lots of optional challenges along the way and an opportunity to modify if you're still working on your strength.
